Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover- Review

Hey girls...
Removing make-up from the face is as important as applying it, and since many make-up products, such as kajal, eyeliner, mascara, and even lip-colours come in water-proof versions, having a good make-up remover is essential for every make-up addict.
Here’s a review on the Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover.

About Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover: This twin-phase makeup remover has a unique formulation that gently but thoroughly removes all kind of makeup, including long-wearing makeup.
Important: Cap tightly after use to prevent evaporation.
Caution: Rinse with cool water if product enters eyes.

Price: Rs. 295 for 120mL.

Packaging: The Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover comes in a translucent, pink spray bottle, with a translucent pink cap. It is a biphasic remover, that is, you can see the oil and water parts separately, with the layer of oil on top (ofcourse!). The spray pump is white in colour. Owing to the translucent bottle, you can always see how much of the product is left inside. The packaging is very travel friendly, since there are no chances of leakage with a spray bottle.

 Ingredients:
Aqua, cyclomethicone, Isohexadecane, D-Panthenol, Butylene Glycol, glycerine, Caprylyl/ Capryl Glucoside, Dimethicone, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA, Dipotassium Hydrogen Phosphate, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, DMDM Hydantoin (and) Iodopropynyl Putylcarbamate.
Phewww....so much to remove make-up???

Directions to use:
1. Shake well.
2. Saturate cotton pad and gently sweep over closed eyelids, lip and face area.
3. Rinse with cool water.

Consistency/ Texture: The liquid is clear, and runny.

Fragrance: It has a light, floral smell, which does not stay for long, coz you’re anyways going to wash your face after using this.

My experience with Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover: The Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover is very effective at its job. It removes all traces of water-proof make-up, even the Maybelline Colossal waterproof mascara, which I think is the most stubborn item in my kitty. Though, not all products are removed in one swipe. It takes 2-3 swipes to get rid of all the make-up, definitely! I soak a cotton pad with the remover, and place it over the eye for 10-15 seconds, to dissolve all the make-up, and then swipe the eye with the cotton ball. This ensures that I do not need to pull and tug at the eye (I don’t want pre-mature crow’s feet, you see).

I have already used the Maybelline waterproof make-up remover (I don’t have the pics, I wasn’t a beauty blogger last year :-P), and I can say that the Maybelline one was a wee bit better. Because- 1. Maybelline was cheaper than Lakme (it still is) and 2. Lakme remover leaves a thicker coat of oil on the face as compared to the Maybelline remover.
So for this budget, I think the Maybelline make-up remover is a better choice, just a very personal thought, though.

I did a small demonstration, using some long-stay lip-colours an eye pencils, to show you all how it works. Here it is:

Note the layer of oil in the bottom pics.

Pros of Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover:
·         Removes all kinds of make-up (washable, waterproof, long-stay) effectively
·         A little goes a long way
·         IMO, it is economical
·         Easily available
·         Spray bottle makes it easy to use and carry, no spillage

Cons of Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover:
·         Leaves an (very) oily cast on the skin
·         Soooo many chemicals
·         Only one size of the bottle available (would have preferred buying a smaller bottle first, just to try, and decide if I wanted to re-purchase the full size bottle)

Verdict: Lakme Dual Action Make-up Remover is good at its job, and I would have re-purchased, if only it didn’t leave my skin with a thick layer of oil. If you have dry skin, you may buy this (now, what has skin type got to do with make-up remover....lol!!).
