VLCC Fade Tan scrub: Review

Hey everyone!
Today I’m reviewing the VLCC Fade Tan scrub. This is one product which is said to have the maximum number of positive reviews around for removing tan from the face. I have some major tanning issues, and I am always on the lookout for things which can help me in getting rid of the tan, and have clear, even-toned skin. Home remedies do work, but they take time to show results. Once in a while, you need to indulge in ‘treatments’ targeted towards your concerns.
Let’s move on to the review!

About VLCC Fade Tan scrub: Over-exposure to harmful UVA and UVB rays of the sun is responsible for skin darkening and ageing. After a glorious day in the sun this effective scrub with deep cleansing and purifying action, rejuvenates skin, post sun exposure. Enriched with Orange Peel Oil and Lemon Peel Oil, it effectively washes away sun-tan while the unique scrubbing granules exfoliate dead skin cells and superficial white and black-heads.ย
Price: Rs. 135
Packaging: The VLCC fade-Tan scrub comes in a bright and cheery orange and yellow squeezy-tube. The tube is translucent, so you can see the amount of product left inside. The bright orange flip-top cap adds to the fun,. and also makes the tube travel friendly.ย

Ingredients: Key ingredients- Sodium Laureth Sulphate, decyl glucoside, glycerine, orange peel oil, lemon peel oil, aloe vera extract, comfrey plant extract, vitamin- B3.
My take on VLCC Fade Tan scrub: Okay, so this is one of the most raved about tan-removal products, or so it seems, when you read around! The scrub is a gel-based product, with fine orange scrubbing granules and some yellow beads thrown in. The orange beads are rounded in shape, and they scrub the skin well. I especially love how this scrub works on the white-heads around the nose. The other beads, the yellow ones, are quite soft and rubbery, and you need to specially break those beads with manual pressure to be able to use them. Once broken, they just give out some color and I don;t think they contribute to the scrubbing effect. The scrub has a fresh, sweet-orange fragrance.ย
The scrub lathers rather too well, since it has SLS in it!
Efficacy wise, this scrub has failed me! I have not noticed fading tan or tan removal using this scrub at all!
As a scrub it is a nice product, it cleanses the skin well and leaves it feeling squeaky clean, but it didn’t work on the tan for me! It could be because I’m using it on long-standing tan, and the pack says that it is mainly a ‘post sun exposure’ tan, so it may work on fresh tan, though I’m not too sure!

Pros of VLCC Fade Tan scrub:
  • Effectively scrubs the skin, removes dead skin
  • Does not dry out the skin
  • Has a fresh citrus fragrance
  • Works well on white-heads (I do not have any black-heads, so I’m not sure if it works on them)
  • Nice packaging

Cons of VLCC Fade Tan scrub:
  • Didn’t remove my tan ๐Ÿ™
  • SLS and other chemicals in abundance

Verdict: If you’re looking for a citrus-based gel scrub, you can pick this one up! WOrks well as a scrub, but nothing on the tan!
Rating: 4/10 as a tan-removing scrub; 9/10 as a ‘scrub’ otherwise!
