Today I’m reviewing the Smashbox Masterclass II palette- Color & Contour palette which is my current favorite and the go-to palette for all occasions because of it’s super versatile contents.
Price: $65. The products inside are worth $300 if you were to buy them separately. Availability: Sephora (this was from Sephora-US. Brought for me by my friend’s relative who was flying down to India in November).
Packaging: As you can see below, the packaging is like a book, wherein each part of the palette turns like a page. Basically, this one palette houses two detatchable plates in it, each with it’s own transparent cover. The palette also has an elastic band to keep everything in place while you travel, and believe me, I’ve been travelling with this one in my bag a lot lately.
On the left are 16 neutral eyeshadows, from pale beige to matte black, and a contouring, bronzing and highlighting shade each. On the right side, you get 16 more eyeshadows in various colors from pinks to greens and blues and lavender, and 3 universally flattering blushes.
The best part about this palette is the pigmentation- every single shade has good color payoff, and very smooth texture. Most shades here have good staying power. The blushes and contouring shades stay put for 7-8 hours easily. I have super oily lids, so I do need some primer underneath the eyeshadows, else they start creasing in a few hours. Otherwise, I am really happy with this palette. It is ALL that you need while travelling. Okay, well, MOST of what you’ll need.
Let’s take a closer look at each of the sides. Starting off with the left side of the palette:
Now for the right side:
The contouring shades and blushes are below:
And these are two looks that I ‘managed’ to photograph while wearing makeup from this palette- clicked in two different cities/ lighting/ temperature. On the left is a neutral look, and on the right is a matchy-matchy colorful look.
Let me know if you’d like to see any video tutorials with this palette.
Oh, and for the pic on the right (above), the outfit post is on my second blog- OOTD: Friend’s Engagement. Do check it out 🙂
