Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s first appearance at Cannes red carpet this year had the makeup critics all over the world divided- some loved it, some didn’t. But love it or hate it, you are bound to not ignore it. Here’s my tiny attempt at replicating the look that she wore, adapted to suit my features 🙂
The makeup look was pretty simple to look at, for a layman. Berry lips, a simple eyeliner and teal lower lash line. Nah! If you look at the pics carefully, you’d notice the ombre effect going on, and getting that right is the task here.
Products used & steps: Since Aishwarya is one of the L’Oreal Paris ambassadors from India, I tried using as many L’Oreal products as possible 🙂
For the eyes, I used the L’Oreal Paris Open Eyes Pro Palette- Smokey Brown for the upper lid eyeshadows. The look Aish wore was a simple shimmery silver on the whole, with defined crease and outer corner. I used 3 shades from the palette, as marked below. Then I applied a thin line of eyeliner, not really winged, and two coats of mascara on the lashes. I used the new Faces Glam On eyeliner & mascara here- will review both soon! Aish must be wearing falsies too, but I skipped that here.
Next, for the lower lash line, where all the drama is, I applied a thick line of turquoise with the L’Oreal Paris Gelmatic Pen- Turbo Turquoise (which was launched for Cannes 2014), and topped the line with a sea-green eyeshadow– Ivy, from the Smashbox Masterclass-II palette. I was quite happy with the final outcome, and this color combo works for my skintone too.
On the cheeks, I had the new Faces Glam On blush in Hot Pink. Very light application.
And for the lips, to create the ombre effect, I first applied the new L’Oreal Paris Cannes 2015 Swarovski lipstick- Arabian Night to the lips. Then, I blotted some of that shade around the centre of the lips with a dry tissue. Followed that up with a dab of MAC Riri Woo (you can use Ruby Woo too) around the centre of the lips. Loved the outcome, and I think this worked very well for my skintone too. I’ve now discovered my go-to deep ombre lip combination 😀
