Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day. But apart from following a good home-care regime from a few months before the wedding, exercising and having a balanced diet, it is important to take help from the experts too in our times because of the kind of pollution and stress levels our skin is exposed to these days. After my last session with Dr. Kiran Lohia at Lumiere Dermatology, I could only place my trust in her to prepare my skin for my wedding. In fact, me and Dr. Lohia had started working on my skin for the big day right from the first time I met her- I had just had my wedding date fixed, and she was one of the first persons to know about my wedding! From then on, she put me under a strict ‘sunscreen’ regime and also advised me on the right kind of skin care at home for the weeks to come.
Face treatment: NY Facial
For the face, Dr. Lohia suggested I opt for the NY Facial, also known as the must-have facial for brides! It is advisable to do this about a week before the event (I got this done a week before the start of my first wedding function- the engagement). The first step of the NY Facial involves gentle resurfacing, to help get rid of the superficial dead skin cells. Once newer and fresher skin is revealed, the laser toning process using the revolutionary US FDA Approved collagen stimulating lasers begins. This laser toning acts deep within the skin to reduce fine lines, pigmentation, dullness, and broken blood vessels for a clearer and iridescent finish. With its deep penetration, it completely avoids damaging the top layer of the skin, allowing you to avoid any redness or irritation entirely! Finally, after a rejuvenating and hydrating medical masque, the skin is treated with the latest in light therapy known as Red Rx. This gentle photo-light bathes the skin to soothe, calm and rejuvenate it.
This treatment acts deep within the skin to stimulate the creation of new collagen and reveal fresher and clearer skin. I was advised to apply some topical ointments (as per the prescription for my skin type) and to avoid going out in the sun. And around the day of my engagement, I had already started getting complements that my skin looked great. I did notice that my makeup went on very smoothly too.
Body treatment: Diamond Medifacial
Basically a high-tech facial for the whole body, the Diamond Medifacial took almost 4-5 hours to get finished (2 tea breaks included) but the patience paid off in the end. First the top layer of the skin is exfoliated to remove dead skin and tan using dermabrasion. Then anti-pigmentation treatments are added that are designed to force pigmented skin to dissipate, leaving skin softer, smoother and lighter. This is based on your skin type. Thirdly, infusions of vitamins are added so that the skin becomes healthier from the inside out, again tailor-made for your skin type. Finally, LED is then done to boost collagen, soothe skin and improve results! This treatment aims at removing the tan and pigmentation from the skin. I also noticed some lightening on the under-arms where I have dark skin due to the use of chemical hair-removers long back. This was quite a welcome thing! This treatment was also done about a week before the functions, almost at the same time as the facial.
My body also felt butter-like- something every bride wants for her big day 😛
I’d strongly recommend that you try out Dr. Kiran Lohia’s Lumiere Dermatology for all your skincare needs, especially if you are a bride-to-be!
