5 Best foundations for oily skin- tried and tested!

The struggle is real. The struggle to find a foundation that does not slip and slide on the oil-mine that your face is! Top it off with the kinda tropical weather we have in India (most regions), and you… CANT… EVEN…

Oily skin girls, raise your hands! I got your back. I probably have the most oily skin amongst all the ladies that I personally know. And I am always on a quest to find a foundation that stays put on my skin for the duration of a party. Something which won’t make my nose overtly shiny, and not make the skin feel heavy! Today I’m sharing my top 5 favorite foundations that I have discovered and loved over the years. Let’s begin!

FOTD and currently testing! (MAC and Clinique)

mac_prolongwear_foundation

Hey everyone!

I did a quick FOTD yesterday, to create one look with a few products that I’ve been testing recently.. Since I was wearing a navy blue chiffon top, I co-ordinated the makeup to suit the dark shirt and heavy neck-piece. The eye make-up is subtle: just a hint of blue on the outer corner, the cheeks are earthy-coral paired with muted lips.. Have a look:

Chambor Rouge Plump+ lipstick- 701: Review, swatches, FOTD

Hey everyone!
If you have been following me on Facebook, you’d know that I have been on the lookout for a nice coral/orange lipcolor (well, not just ‘a’ lipcolor, more than one will do too :P). I recently picked up the Chambor Rouge Plump+ lipstick- 701, and while the color is perfect, there’s something not-so-right about this lipstick. Read on to know the details.

About Chambor Rouge Plump+ lipstick- 701: A lipstick isn’t just a lipstick anymore. With Chambor, it becomes your beauty secret that helps you get the desired result in plumpness, moisture, colour and

a lot more. The new Rouge Plump+ amplifies lips by 25% giving you sensuously full lips. This has been dermatologist tested and clinically proven.

Packaging: The Chambor Rouge Plump+ lipsticks come in a rectangular, long lipstick case, with a leatherine feel to it, with a silver central rim. The lipstick bullet is slim and tall, and looks very chic. The packaging looks classy, and is travel friendly. The twisting mechanism of the bullet is a little cushiony, as in, when the lipstick bullet has retracted fully, the twisting thing seems to work even then, so, it gives a feeling that something is wrong with the bullet 🙁

My take on Chambor Rouge Plump+ lipstick- 701: Shade 701 is a highly pigmented, almost opaque, burnt orange shade, minus any shimmer or glitter, and with a wee bit of ‘moist’ look. The shade is awesome, and very flattering for all complexions. On my dusky complexion, it looks good, and does not wash me out.
But hold on, all that, just on the bullet and hand swatch! You apply it to the lips, and turns out, this is just a tall lippie with taller claims, and nothing else! I mean, on the lips, it tends to look dry within seconds, not matte, dry! Then, it settles into lines, and looks patchy. Staying power is a meagre 2 hours on me. The texture of the lipstick is too soft, and is prone to crumbling.
When applied with a lip brush, the lipstick fares marginally better. Though I’m not mighty impressed!
I’m hoping that all the problems listed above are with this piece that I have got, and not the entire range 🙁
As for the plumping action, that is generally visible after atleast 2 weeks of regular usage, as per the SA, so I cannot comment upon that. It settles into fine lines, so I don’t think there’s any immediate plumping action here, logically speaking!

Pros of Chambor Rouge Plump+ lipstick- 701:
  • Burnt-orange shade, universally flattering
  • No shimmer/ glitter
  • Classy packaging, travel friendly

Cons of Chambor Rouge Plump+ lipstick- 701:
  • Crumbly texture
  • Applies patchy, and settles into fine lines
  • Staying power of just about 2 hours
  • Transfers to coffee mugs
Also, I prefer my lipsticks to have a name rather than just a number. Gets easier to tell someone what lipstick you’re wearing, and one can ‘connect’ better with names instead of numbers 😛 Just a personal preference!

Verdict: For me, this lipstick is a big failure, texture wise, staying power wise, and for the fact that it settles into fine lines badly. The only thing I like about this lipstick is the shade, which I totally love!
Rating: 6/10, only for the shade and packaging.
Have you tried any lipcolors from this range? How was your experience? Please share with us all!
And, can you suggest some dupes for this shade? I really love it (the shade, I mean!)! Thanks 🙂

April favorites!

Hey everyone!
So I’m sharing with you all my monthly favorites for the first time. Below were my most-used products for the month of April 2013.
Hair care: I mostly used the TRESemme shampoo and conditioner last month. After the silicone-and-sulphate-free phase in February-March, my hair is loving some silicones and sulphates. I mean, the silicone-sulphate ban totally dried out my hair, and it was getting really difficult for me to continue using those products. So I’m back to the ‘normal’ products.
But I am loving the The Body Shop Rainforest Coconut hair oil for the weekly deep-conditioning regime!

Bath and Body: I’m currently loving the following products:

  • Sephora Chic Guimauve body scrub: one of the best body scrubs I’ve tried!
  • Crabtree and Evelyn Lily shower gel
  • The Body Shop Olive body butter

Sunscreens: The most obvious products one uses in summers, I’m using the Lotus UV Screen Matte Gel (PSF 50) for the face, and Banana Boat Sport (SPF50) sunscreen for the body. In love with botht hese products.

Also using Burt’s Bees lip balm, Soap and Glory Hand Food, and Lotus Nutraglow tinted moisturiser.

Make-up (face): Since the weather is getting hotter by the day, I’m just using some concealer, loose powder and a wee bit of blush for the face these days. My skin is behaving and I don’t need a full-soundation routine these days (touch-wood!)

Make-up (eyes): I use a black eyeliner and kohl on most days. To fix the brows, I’m currently loving the NYX eyebrow shaper, and I must say, it is awesome!

Make-up (lips): Corals, reds and berries for my lips, please!
