Dupatta love!

An integral part of south-Asian daily life. Be it daily wear or occassion wear, a dupatta is that one piece of clothing which you will invariably see floating around everywhere. They offer the grace of a saree, well almost, without the fuss of having to drape 9 yards of fabric around your body. I collaborated with Shoonya to bring to you two versatile looks- classy, elegant and super comfortable festive looks for the upcoming festive and wedding season.

The Hidesign love affair

Hello everyone!

It is very rare for me to fall totally in love with a brand, at least in terms of being a repeat customer. I like trying new brands every time I shop, and not very often will you see me carrying two products from the same brand in my ‘look’. Well, Hidesign is one big exception here, and it has maintained this spot for a lot of years now.

I discovered Hidesign when I was still studying, when Dad got himself a Hidesign wallet and belt. This was long back. That must have been almost 15 years back. And the moment I held that men’s wallet in my hand, I knew I wanted to own some products from this brand too. And soon.

Paris diaries IV: Musée International de la Parfumerie

Hello ladies!

Hope you have gone through all the posts from Paris/ France till now. Today’s post is from our last day in France, and also the most beautiful one! The Lux Fragrance Experience was amazing through and through, and I am so grateful to the teams behind Lux for curating for us the most special experiences in France. I managed to do things and visit places that I wouldn’t have done/ visited had I been travelling on my own. I mean, not everyday do you visit a perfume museum or dine at a Michelin Star restaurant, do you?

The kinda fast paced lives we live these days, we sometimes tend to forget ourselves. Work takes priority. Family and friends. Partners. Hobbies. Food. The list is endless. We set our heart out on people. Sometimes it gets broken. Sometimes not. But nevertheless, we tend to look outside for happiness and love. While it should be the opposite. Here’s the what’s and why’s and how’s of putting yourself first.

I’m a beige kinda girl!

I love color. I’m not a beige kind of girl- Christina Aguilera

Beige is the color of indecision- Paula Scher

ootd sakshi k relan

I came across the above quotes while doing some research around the color beige for this post. The objective was to delve a little deeper into the psychology behind the color, but I happened to stumble upon these quotes which forced me to sit down and introspect.

And while I love color too, I think I’m more of a ‘beige kind of girl’. I like simpler things in life. I may be old school too at times. But the focus is always on un-complicating (if that is even a word) things, as much as I can.

Every color comes with a characteristic personality with it. Reds are mostly associated with seduction, pinks with innocent girly charm, greens with peace and blues with calm. But beige is neutral and calm, somewhere between the earthy brown and pristine whites. Like the best of both worlds. Most people associate beige with being boring and dull, for lack of life. But I beg to differ. The color goes well with just about everything, be it in fashion or decor or art. It also induces a sense of stillness and calm. A beige lover is also said to be decisive in his/ her actions, and is known to be practical, reliable and loyal all at the same time.

Beige OOTDs

Beige in fashion is a very versatile color. It looks stunning on it’s own, and goes well with almost any color that you pair it with. An all seasons, all occassions kinda color!

For an evening date or event, pair a beige a-line dress with high heels, put on some red lipstick, and you’re ready to go! How cute are the tie-up shoulder straps?!

I recently got the chance to go through the summer collection of designer Sakshi K Relan, and I loved the omnipresence of beiges and whites in her collection. Sakshi Relan, an MBA turned designer, chose to follow her passion of designing and creating garments with a twist. With a knack to create high fashion in a chic avatar, she marries Haute Couture, rich fabrics with vivacious cuts and drapes, in a fun, edgy and one-of-a-kind manner. Her outfits exude a global sensibility that enhances their appeal and have a dramatic appeal. Her collection has an interesting mix of western and indo western clothes.
