30 days’ eye makeup challenge: Look-5- Peacock Blue

Heyyy girls!

For today’s look, I’ve drawn inspiration from the blues that we associate with a peacock. Since it is saawan ka mahina (saawan month), and I also spotted a Peacock on the neighbor’s terrace the other day ūüėõ I’ve done this look keeping those blues in mind. Mind you, only the blues ūüėÄ

Rimmel Scandal Eyes ‘Show Off’ mascara: Review, EOTD

Hey everyone!
I have a few reviews of Rimmel products lined up for you guys. Today I’m reviewing the Scandal Eyes ‘Show off’ mascara from their range of mascaras. Read on to know my take on it.
rimmel scandal eyes show off mascara review

About¬†Rimmel Scandal Eyes ‘Show Off’ mascara:
  • Breakthrough brush
    • Flat side for volume
    • Ball tip for lasting lift
  • Fibre enriched formula for longer lashes
Price: Rs. 399 for 12mL
Packaging: The mascara tube is a bright pink tube with black lettering. Very catchy packaging! The mascara wand has a double head, the lower part is like a regular mascara wand, rounded. The tip is like a ball, sits like a sphere on the band. The tip helps reach the inner corner of the lash lines effectively, and you can easily bend the mascara wand to a vertical position to be able to coat the smallest of lashes easily, whether on the upper or the lower lash line.

Ingredients: Not mentioned.
My take on¬†Rimmel Scandal Eyes ‘Show Off’ mascara: The mascara is a regular black colored product, with a thick consistency. It’s a ‘dry’ kinda mascara, if you know what I mean. The mascara wand doesn’t;t come out from the tube dripping in black liquid, but, you do get good amount of product on the lashes nevertheless. The mascara coats the lashes well, the brush aids the process. It shows up with some clumps here and there, nothing major, but we don’t like clumpy lashes, do we?¬†
The mascara adds some volume and curl to the lashes and it opens up the eyes, but nothing dramatic. The curl stays for about 5-6 hours. You can easily pick up this mascara for an everyday, office-going product, but if you’re looking for dramatic, ‘scandal-eyes’ results, well, this will disappoint you in that department.
Since the product is waterproof, you need a good eye make-up remover to remove it completely.

Left: lashes without mascara; Right- wearing Rimmel mascara.

Oh, and just to let you know, I also picked up the eye make-up remover from Rimmel, and well, it is such a disappointment! More on that later, though!
Pros of¬†Rimmel Scandal Eyes ‘Show Off’ mascara:
  • Lifts and curls lashes moderately
  • The brush makes the job easier
  • Waterproof
  • Nice packaging
Cons of¬†Rimmel Scandal Eyes ‘Show Off’ mascara:
  • I wish it was more effective at curling and fanning out the lashes
  • Clumps a bit
Verdict: Umm, well, if you’re on the lookout for an everyday mascara with a light effect, do try it. Else, skip!

Inglot AMC Gel eyeliner- Matte 77: Review, swatch, EOTD

Inglot AMC Eyeliner Gel- Matte 77
Hiya everyone!

Today I’m reviewing a gorgeous black gel eyeliner from Inglot, one of my favourite make-up brands. A black eyeliner is a must-have for everyone. Read on to know more about this eyeliner.

inglot amc eyeliner gel matte 77

About Inglot AMC Gel eyeliner- Matte 77: WATERPROOF Long-lasting, waterproof formula. Can be used as an eye shadow or body painting gel. Brush number 30T is recommended for eyeliner application. PARABEN FREE FORMULA NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS 5.5g/0.19 US OZ

inglot amc eyeliner gel matte 77 review

Price: Rs. 850 for 5.5g

Packaging: The eyeliner comes in a small, flat, round transparent plastic tub, with a black screw-on cap. It is a no-fuss packaging. No applicator brush is included with the pack, unlike the gel eyeliner packs from Maybelline/ L’Oreal. So you’ll need to buy a separate eyeliner brush for use with this gel eyeliner.

inglot amc eyeliner gel matte 77 reviews

best black gel eyeliner

My take on Inglot AMC Gel eyeliner- Matte 77: Matte-77 is a flat black eyeliner, highly pigmented, very smooth and creamy, and very easy to apply. I scoop out a bit of the product (about the size of a rice grain. You need less than that amount of the product for lining both the eyes) with a clean eyeliner brush on the back of the hand before applying to avoid contaminating the whole thing. Since the product is very light, airy, and smooth, it gets applied in a jiffy. And it sets very quickly, like in about 5-10 seconds, so you need to be quick with application.

inglot amc eyeliner gel matte 77

Once set, it doesn’t budge from its place for a long time. On my very oily lids, it sometimes tends to transfer to the upper lid by the end of the day if I do not powder the lids. So if you have very oily lids like mine, remember to apply some loose/ compact powder to the lids to increase the staying power. It doesn’t get completely transferred, but it does!

On other days, when I powder the eye lids, it stays for about 10 hours on me.

The finish is matte, and it stays like that the whole day.
The eyeliner is a jet-black shade, and I love how pigmented it is. The only down-side with Inglot gel eyeliners is that these supposedly dry up very soon. The drying up can be delayed by keeping the lid of the pot tightly closed, keeping the pot in the cardboard box that it comes in (to prevent chances of contact with air), keeping the pot upside down (secret tip from the MUA’s). If it does dry up eventually, add 1-2 drops of Inglot Duraline to get back the consistency of the gel.

And, ya, you will need a separate eyeliner brush too. I use either the brush that comes with Maybelline gel eyeliner¬†(it‚Äôs mighty good!), or the Ambika Pillai eyeliner brush¬†or the Sigma E05 eyeliner brush¬†(yet to be reviewed on the blog). Just remember to clean the brushes after each use. If any amount of the gel liner dries up on the brush, you’ll have a hard time the next time ūüėõ

Pros of Inglot AMC Gel eyeliner- Matte 77:

  • Jet black, highly pigmented shade
  • Very smooth and easy to apply
  • Stays put for a long time
  • Waterproof
  • A little goes a long way
Cons of Inglot AMC Gel eyeliner- Matte 77:

  • Need to buy a separate brush
  • The gel eyeliner can dry up soon
  • A little pricey!
Verdict: I quite like this eyeliner for the rich pigmentation and smooth texture. You need to be good at the art of applying eyeliners before you start using gel eyeliners. But once you use these, you’re sure to get hooked onto gel eyeliners. So do give these a shot. Inglot gel eyeliners come in a plethora of colors to suit everyone’s taste.

Silver-black smokey eyes in 8 simple steps: Tutorial

Hey everyone!
It’s been a long time since I posted a tutorial on the blog. Some time back, my friend Sakshi¬†(you know her already for all the lovely reviews) came home, and we were in the mood to create a few looks on her, since she’s a novice to make-up, and wanted to experiment and see what looks work best for her.

silver black smokey eye make up

So, this was one of the looks, created keeping in mind an ‘evening date’.

We used the colors silver and black to get this look.

Products used:

1. Chambor Dazzle eyeliner pencil- Black Dazzle (reviewed here)
2. Maybelline Diamond Glow eyeshadow quad- Gray Pink (reviewed here)
3. Inglot freedom system eyeshadow refill- AMC63 (matte black eyeshadow, reviewed here)
4. L’Oreal Volum’ Million lashes mascara- Black (reviewed¬†here)
5. Vega premium eyelash curler (reviewed here)
6. Oriflame professional blending eye brush (reviewed here)
7. Vega eyeshadow brush (reviewed here)

Steps:

silver black smokey eye make up tutorial

1. Using a black eyeliner pencil to create a base for eyeshadow. Apply it on the outer half of the lid. No need to be very precise.

2. Pick up a dull silver eyeshadow on a brush, and apply it all over the lid.

3. Apply a hint of matte black eyeshadow to the outer corner and crease (just a very tiny bit) and blend.

4. Apply a light silver eyeshadow to the inner corner of the eye. Apply a wash of the same color to the brow-bone area using soft strokes of a fluffy brush.

5. If need be, line the upper eyelid. You may even tight-line the upper lash line.

6. Apply kohl to the lower lash line, leaving the inner corner. Gently smudge the line of kohl with a pencil brush (or a soft, rounded q-tip).

7. Curl lashes using an eyelash curler.

8.  Apply mascara. Fill in the brows for any empty spaces, if required, to get a neat shape.

Done!

Funky festive eye make-up tutorial

Hey lovelies!
The festivities are in full swing in India, and so is the mood to create the best of make-up looks.
I am sharing the tutorial here for a very funky and colorful festive eye make-up look. I have not been able to give it a suitable name, because a lot of colors are involved in this look. Can you give this look a name?

Funky festive eye make-up tutorial

k, so you’ll need:

Funky festive eye make-up tutorial
Products needed. Required shades have been asterisked

– An eyeshadow base/ primer
– Grey, blue, black, copper-brown and pink eyeshadows
– A silver eyeshadow
– Bright blue/ turquiose coloured eyeliner or loose pigment.
– Mascara, kohl
– Under-eye concealer
– Eye make-up brushes and tools

Steps:

Funky festive eye make-up tutorial

-Begin with clean, moisturised eye area. Apply primer to the entire lid. I used MAC Paint Pot- Painterly (reviewed HERE).
Now we shall proceed.

Funky festive eye make-up tutorial

1. Apply a dark grey eyeshadow to the upper eyelid, covering the inner 2/3rd of the lid. You may even go all the way till the outer corner. I used the third shade from the Maybelline Diamond Glow quad- Gray Pink (reviewed HERE)

2. Next, apply a blue eyeshadow to the outer 1/3rd of the lid. I used L’Oreal Paris Infallible eyeshadow- All Night Blue (reviewed¬†HERE).

3. Pick up a matte black eyeshadow and apply it to the crease area only. You need not be precise here. We’ll blend the shadow later. I used Noir from the Sleek i-Divine Oh-So-Special palette (reviewed¬†HERE).

4. Next, pick up a copper-brown eyeshadow on a brush, and apply it above the black eyeshadow that we applied in step-3. I used Gift Basket from the Sleek i-Divine Oh-So-Special palette (reviewed HERE). Blend the black and copper-brown using an eyeshadow blending brush to get a soft black-brown crease.

Funky festive eye make-up tutorial

5. Next, apply a berry- pink eye shadow above the black-brown crease, towards the outer half of the crease. The pink shadow has to be applied such that it peeps out above the crease. I used a shade from the VOV 98-in-1 eyeshadow palette (reviewed HERE).

6. Apply a silver eyeshadow below the brow, to highlight the brow bone. I used the first shade from the Maybelline Diamond Glow quad- Gray Pink (reviewed HERE).

7. Dip a q-tip in a make-up remover solution. You could also use a cleansing wet-wipe.

8. Place the q-tip dipped in make-up remover across the eye as shown in the pic above, and gently move the q-tip upwards. This will create a neat outer border for the eye make-up, removing any excess/ unwanted eyeshadow. Also, wipe off any fall-outs on the face.

Funky festive eye make-up tutorial

9. This is how it should look after wiping off excess eyeshadow. You will get a neat, defined outer border. If you don’t want it to be a harsh line, gently tap the outer border with your finger-tip to soften the line.

10. Next, take a pinch of turquoise loose pigment on your clean palm (I used the turquoise pigment from the Faces Sparkle Dust stack- Wish, reviewed¬†HERE). Mix it with 1-2 drops of a binding solution, such as Inglot Duraline (reviewed¬†HERE). This way, you’ll get a turquoise eyeliner which will stay put the whole day. You can also use any other turquoise eyeliner here.

11. Using a thin eyeliner brush, line the upper eyelid with this turquoise eyeliner. Also line the outer 2/3rd of the lower lash line, not going too close to the rim of the eye.

12. Apply black kohl on the rim of the eye (above the turquoise line). Curl lashes and apply mascara.

Apply concealer to the under-eyes after wiping off excess fall-out, if needed.

Make-up tricks: How to make small eyes look bigger

Hellooo girlies!
This post is a picture tutorial on how to make small eyes look bigger. It was requested by Sonu.
Sonu is a college going girl, so I would try to keep the look simple.

Let’s begin.

You will need:

Products needed

1. A kajal pencil. If you use a water-proof pencil, it can double up as eyeliner and kohl, thus saving money. I suggest Maybelline Colossal for the same.
2. A skin-coloured eyeshadow. You may use the regular compact too.
3. A concealer for under-eye dark circles, if needed
4. An eyelash curler (very important). Check out Vega or Basicare for affordable ones.
5. Mascara- Again, I suggest using Maybelline Hyper-curl mascara for the day and Maybelline Colossal for the evenings.
6. An eyeshadow brush. Optional again.

Steps:
1. Start with bare, moisturised eye.

2. Pick up a skin-coloured eyeshadow on a brush (as marked in the image below). You may use your compact too.

Apply the eyeshadow/ compact over the entire lid to keep the skin oil-free.

3. Pick up a darker taupe shade on the brush. (This can be done for the evenings.)

Apply the taupe eyeshadow on the crease. I have used the lightest possible strokes, to give the illusion of a deep crease. Use deeper strokes for evenings.

4. Next, I used a black gel liner to line the eyes. I used Maybelline gel liner. You can use any black eyeliner, depending on whether you prefer gel/ liquid/ pencil eyeliners.

First, create two dots on the upper lash line, as shown in the pics. One dot on the outer corner, and the second dot on the centre of the lash line. This is just for practice. Once you get a hang of this procedure, you may skip the dotting.

Join the dots.

Next, extend this line towards the inner corner of the lash line, tapering down the line. Leave out the tear duct area (the extreme inner corner).

Next, on the outer corner, wing out the eyeliner upwards.

Next, use a kajal pencil for the lower lash line.

Line the lower lash line outside the inner rim.
We are doing this because we do not want to use a white/ n*de coloured pencil on the lash line here, since this look is meant for the day. Using a white/ n*de pencil creates a lot of drama, and also it does not suit all skin tones. So I skipped it here. Leaving some space above the line of kohl does the job of using a white/ n*de pencil.

Also, the line has to cover only 2/3rd of the lower lash line. Do not extend it all the way inside, else the eyes will look closed/ smaller.

Smudge the kohl. Use a q-tip if you don’t have a pencil brush.¬†

Curl lashes using an eyelash curler. It will instantly open up the eyes further.

Apply concealer to cover any dark circles, and mascara on the lashes.

The final effect.

A comparison with bare eye.

I went ahead and added a wash of a pale highlighter on the inner corner of the eye.

The final effect again!

The whole idea here is to create a C-shape around the eyes, leaving the inner corner bare. This will make the eyes open up. You may add eyeshadows, depending on the occasion. I have used a few basic eyeshadows here, but for college wear, those are skippable. Only eyeliner/ kohl should do, along with mascara.

I hope this was helpful. Please do leave feedback in the comments below.
