How many of you have seen the TVC featuring Celina Jaitley, where she is talking about her acne battle, and how she went from an acne-prone girl to a young woman who was free from acne? And the products she used were from Proactiv*? I’m sure each one of you has seen that video. And you also must have deeply craved to try their products, if you suffer from acne.
About Proactiv Refining Mask:
A good cleansing milk and moisturizer can keep your skin clean and well-hydrated. But sometimes the skin needs something extra, a bit of pampering occasionally. Moreover, if you happen to have a sensitive and pimple-prone skin, then it gets even more important for you to take special care of your skin.
Proactiv Refining Mask provides pampering that an oily, pimple-prone and sensitive skin needs. The facial mask acts as an acne treatment skin care product as it contains elements such as sulphur that effectively fights acne causing bacteria. The active ingredient in it absorbs excess oil, reduces the appearance of pore size, pacifies redness and improves the skin texture. It also works well on stubborn blackheads and whiteheads. Regular application of this facial mask will give your skin a smooth and radiant effect.
For best results, use it after Proactiv Renewing Cleanser and apply the Revitalizing Toner and moisturizer after washing-off the Proactiv Refining Mask. You can also make use of this mask as an over-night pimples treatment.

My take on Proactiv Refining Mask: The Proactiv Refining Mask is a whitish, thick, creamy product, which spreads easily on the skin. It dries in about 5-6 minutes after application. While the pack is on the skin, it does not make the skin stretchy, or feel uncomfortable. The fragrance of the mask is mild, and does not bother my over-sensitive nose.
Coming to the efficacy, the product is meant to deeply cleanse, soothe and calm problem skin. Because of the summers here in Delhi, my face has been having tiny break-outs since last two weeks. And this mask totally came to my rescue (I wanna say ‘Superman, to the rescue’ here, lol! Or was it Spiderman? I have no clue about super-heroes!). The mask controls and treats zits very well, and leaves the skin squeaky clean. So, the breakouts are minimised, and the skin feels nice and clean. Also, on the day of application, I have felt that the skin feels less-oily (as compared to other days; I have super-oily skin).
I feel that the mask is strictly for oily/ combination skin types. Those with dry skin+ acne combination (if that exists) will have to follow up with a good dose of moisturiser after the mask is washed off.
Oh, and this reminds me, the pack says that the mask should be washed off with warm water. I tried washing it with cold water (it’s summers here, afterall), and I felt it didn’t completely come off. So, this mask should be washed off with lukewarm water for ease of removal.
I’m hoping it works magically on some open pores that I have around the nose too, in due course of time.
At the price point of 600 bucks, it is a tad bit expensive, atleast for school/ college going people.
Pros of Proactiv Refining Mask:
- Smooth, easy to apply mask
- Leaves the face squeaky clean
- Soothes and calms the skin, especially the break-outs
- Controls further break-outs
- Works well at controlling oil secretion on oily skin

Cons of Proactiv Refining Mask:

- Availability is an issue
Verdict: If you have oily, acne-prone skin, I think you should try this mask! It works well at controlling break-outs, and oil secretion on the skin.
